GREAT-JOY MAKAFUI WEDAM WELLRICH CELEBRATES FIRST BIRTHDAY IN STYLE

ONE YEAR ACHIEVEMENTS>
 Great-joy can crawl, bite, beat, sit, stand,laugh, dance, climb, sing, throw, tickle, kiss, grip, feed, joke, roll, clap and talk and do much more.

HISTORY
On 26th March 2019, Jean-Mary, the mother of Great-Joy could not hold him much longer; He had to come that day. 37 military hospital was quiet that evening, except for the screaming noise and chants from the mother of this boy...I could hear her screaming in unknown 'tongues' to express her discomfort and pain since she could feel the baby coming.
 Her screams got louder and Doctors became alarmed; the head doctor ordered an emergency CS to be done; that was when i called family members to pray...hunger left me that moment,i felt sick immediately.
 After about 20 minutes, i heard a loud cry from a baby and few minutes after, the doctor announced to us that our baby and mother came out safely; then i got well. 

What was strange was that we were not allowed to see or handle the baby...even the mother; immediately, i went back to sick mode.
Great-joy had swallowed some of the fluid inside the womb which may have contaminated him; incidentally, he had been struggling to come out but dilation was slow.  He had to be observed and treated at the emergency ward (NICU)
The mother who was healing from CS had to travel 3 times everyday to NICU to feed Great-Joy. You can imagine the stress.!?

AT NICU
Great-Joy spent over two weeks at NICU, enduring painful blood tests and treatments from all sorts of infections.  During his stay, he was the most talked about baby. He earned the nicknames> KING KONG , KOJO THE GREAT and ALMIGHTY KOJO.
He was called KING KONG for the reason that anytime he would cry, he screamed and opened his hands like in the king kong movie. And when wakes from bed and cries, all the babies at the ward also wake and cried. He could wake everyone at midnight. He made all the health workers stay on their toes 24/7. He was THE BABY BOSS; they follow his 'aluta' cry.Thus, the names KOJO THE GREAT and  ALMIGHTY KOJO.
Every morning we went to visit, he was the topic of the day; nurses and doctors were discussing him. Indeed, the day he was ready to leave the emergency unit, the nurses were sad because they grew fond of him but also happy because, there will be 'peace' at their ward... Their boss was leaving... The Almighty was leaving.
Now, here he is. A big one year old and for now, he is still THE BABY BOSS at home.

A young graduate of Ghana Institute of Journalism has braved the odds by turning used and rejected vehicle tyres and scraps into beautiful and useful furniture and a business venture. It had been four years since Jean-Marie Wellrich was gainfully employed; In 2018, she lost her job because she was pregnant and her employer, who was not enthused about the news, found a nice way to dismiss her.
