If You're Feeling Suicidal, Call Macho Republic


Suicide is a problem worldwide, and something that has certainly become a big problem in Ghana.

Everyday we hear stories in the media about suicide, and that is certainly worrying.

Macho republic is an NGO committed to helping people in suicidal distress to rescind their suicidal decision and to reorient and reintegrate suicide victims back to balanced living.

Stress, peer pressure, frustration, ridicule, inferiority complex amongst others have been identified as some causes of suicide and suicidal thoughts.
The mode with which Macho Republic seeks to use to help suicidal victims before they harm themselves is to provide dedicated phone numbers whereby victims can make distress calls or send distress SMS and immediately, macho representatives or volunteers will respond with professional techniques to avert any harm.

Macho representatives and volunteers will be located in every region in Ghana, with the hope of providing high-quality care to those in need.

Speaking to the founder of Macho Republic, Mr. Shiva Quashie, he said that his passion is to see the reduction of suicidal cases and also to create a platform where victims can find solace or hope. 

Shiva entreated the public to call or send SMS to the following mobile numbers when they see or experience any suicidal tendencies in someone or themselves. The number is currently being set-up and will be shared shortly.

Signs of depression and suicide you should note:

1. Seclusion and silence. Victims seem to seclude themselves from people.
2. Stress and substance abuse
3. Irrational behaviour
4. Constant flashes of anger
5. Unable to sleep

A young graduate of Ghana Institute of Journalism has braved the odds by turning used and rejected vehicle tyres and scraps into beautiful and useful furniture and a business venture. It had been four years since Jean-Marie Wellrich was gainfully employed; In 2018, she lost her job because she was pregnant and her employer, who was not enthused about the news, found a nice way to dismiss her.
