Footgolf also known as soccergolf is a modern sport that has a combination of both golf and football. The footgolf or soccergolf is played by the rules of golf with the exception that football is played into large size holes with the shortest count; that is, the player who finishes the course with the fewest shoots wins. The sport can be played by more than 5 people.
Pars are usually, 5 shorts or fewer. compared to golf, footgolf is faster to play and does not require any expensive attire or accessory.

The very first footgolf tournament was organized in the Netherlands by Michael Jansen and Bas Korsten. The first American footgolf league was founded in 2011.
A group of countries came together in 2012 to form the first federation for international footgolf (FIFG) and 8 countries played the first footgolf world cup in Hungary.

The sport that is fast gaining popularity whilst golf is losing popularity amongst many young people due to the 'freestyle' nature of the game. The sport can be played on golf course or any wide plain or ground.

In Ghana, footgolf is yet to be officially recognized, even though, many youth have started playing it.
Golf in Ghana is seem as a sport for the rich and priveleged, therefore, making it less attractive to many. However, footgolf, will soon catch the attention and interest of many because, generally, Ghanaians are football lovers and a pleasant option to football will not be a bad idea.

The footgolf can become a substitute to football in Ghana once it is well publicized or promoted.

The game is not as aggressive as football, it is played one after the other unlike football where it is played at the same time by 22 people; footgolf can be enjoyed by females since it does not as sweaty as football and does not involve running around.
